We are open for submissions to Solum Journal Volume VI, centering on the theme of doubt: doubt in oneself, in God, or in hope, and perhaps how one grows from it—or grows closer to God in it.
Solum Literary Press is a Christian small press embodying a faith that seeks excellence. We publish poetry, short stories, and homilies in Solum Journal, our annual literary journal, as well as poetry chapbooks, poetry collections, novellas, novels, and short story collections year-round.
We primarily publish work concerning Christian theology or work which deals with the Christian life, i.e., the trials and triumphs of daily life with God. We hope to uplift young or undiscovered Christian authors, academics, and artists, and provide a space for them to interact and grow from one another. While we generally publish work with Christian themes, our main criteria for publication are honesty and literary merit. God’s truth can be found in all forms of art and literature, just as He’s found in all creation (Psalm 19). Your work doesn’t need to directly pertain to Christian theology or contain Christian themes for consideration. Learn more about our vision and what we seek to publish on our “Submissions” page.

Note that we generally prefer all manuscripts to be complete prior to submission. However, if we find your pitch is a good fit for us, we will accept partially complete manuscripts.
We require the purchase of one of our physical titles for manuscript consideration. This helps us operate the press and support the work of our contributors. Please select a title from our Publications page and include your receipt of purchase with your manuscript files.
Chapbook Submissions:
- Poetry chapbooks shouldn’t exceed 50 pages.
- All poetry styles are welcome.
- Poetry chapbooks should center on a unified theme (e.g., trauma to healing, nascent faith to spiritual maturation, etc.).
- Chapbooks can contain previously unpublished poems. However, we expect that at least a quarter of the manuscript’s content has been previously published.
Poetry Collection Submissions:
- Criteria for publishing poetry collections are more stringent than poetry chapbooks. Poets submitting collections should have an established repertoire of previously published material.
- We expect at least half of the manuscript to have been previously published.
- Poetry collections shouldn’t exceed 200 pages.
- All poetry styles are welcome.
